On this day in 1929 the British Privy Council over-ruled the Supreme Court of Canada and stated that "yes, women are persons [...] and to those who would ask why the word "persons" should include females, the obvious answer is, why should it not?" Thank you to Lord Sankey and the 5 courageous women who fought for this recognition: Henrietta Edwards, Nellie McClung, Louise McKinney, Emily Murphy & Irene Parlby. Celebrate “Persons Day” in Canada!
